Fast and Low-overhead Local Route Recovery in Ad Hoc Wireless Network

Abstract(in English) Intensive researches have been conducted on the local recovery in ad hoc wireless networks. However, the broadcasting of control packets in most methods leads to extra time delay and high control overhead. In this paper, we propose a new strategy called Relay Recovery (RELREC) to make neighbor nodes of the failed route facilitate route recovery process in an active manner, thus avoiding the broadcasting of control packets. We also propose two route shortening strategies to further improve the efficiency of RELREC. Simulation results show that RELREC significantly reduces the time delay and the control overhead, and that the route shortening strategies successfully reduce the average route length.
