Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Similar files in PCs and servers need to be identified quickly and accurately, and this can be done by using similarity hashing to extract feature values of files. Whereas the cryptographic hashes of two files differing by even a single bit are drastically different, the similarity hashes of files with small modifications do not differ much. With conventional similarity hashing methods, however, the accuracy with which modified files are recognized to be similar decreases when the modifications change the file size. In this paper we discuss an improved similarity hashing method that can accurately identify similar files whose sizes differ. Experimental results show that the true positive rate obtained using the improved method is 22.5% higher than that obtained using a conventional method.
