Multidimensional Assessment of QoE in Interactive Audiovisual IP Communications : Effect of Task Types

Abstract(in English) This report assesses the effect of task types and picture patterns on QoE in interactive audiovisual IP communications in a multidimensional way by the SD method. The SD method uses pairs of adjectives representing video quality, interactivity, psychological factors, and satisfaction. Under the condition that the guaranteed bandwidth for audio and video is constant, we assessed QoE by subjective assessment for various values of video encoding bit-rates, picture patterns, and playout buffering time. We designed two tasks whose image quality is important; one is a task with large movement, while the other is a task with small movement. From the experimental results, we found that the effect of the image quality on QoE in the task with small movement is more than that in the task with large movement. We also noticed that the satisfaction is affected largely by the psychological factors and naturalness of interaction . We then evaluated the efficiency of the task with large movement and found that it has high correlation with the interactivity.
