Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The purpose of this study is to compare the brain activity between experts and non-experts while they do whole body exercise. We observed the brain activity while they played a drum using four limbs, by means of Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), which enables non-invasive measurement of the cortical blood flow correlated with neural activities while in motion. Each participant played two types of drumming task. One was easy for experts but difficult for non-experts, while the other was easy for both the experts and non-experts. The results showed that the brain activity in the frontal lobe of the expert was low, while the brain activity in the frontal lobe and parietal lobe of the non-experts was high.
