Improved Inter-Cluster Interference Cancellation for Multiuser MIMO Distributed Antenna Systems

Abstract(in English) Distributed Antenna Systems (DASs) are being studied to improve frequency resource utilization. In these systems, neighboring Remote Base Stations (RBSs) form clusters in which a set of the RBSs cooperatively communicates with Subscriber Stations (SSs) via Multiuser MIMO (MU-MIMO), and the whole service area is covered by the clusters. When clusters that use the same frequency channel are not separated enough to suppress the inter-cluster interference, system performance is degraded by co-channel inter-cluster interference. We previously proposed an inter-cluster interference cancellation method to improve the achievable spectral efficiency of clustered DAS. Though the proposed method cancels interference signals in an approximate manner due to its practical calculation loads, the residual interference is not avoidable. This paper proposes an iterative inter-cluster interference cancellation method for downlink/uplink with reasonable computational complexity. Computer simulations confirm its enhanced performance.
