Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Large-Aeff holey fibers with Aeff of 150 mm2 were designed and fabricated. Advantages of using holey fibers were demonstrated by comparing microbending loss with conventional step-index solid fibers. We confirmed that the holey fibers with precisely-controlled air holes in the cladding had the possibilities of keeping the microbending loss in a low level about 0.3 dB/km in spite of large Aeff due to existence of their air holes.
