Abstract(in English) The information retrieval from the printed image by using a cellular phone attracts much attention. In this paper, we propose an improvement for the correction method of the lens distortion in capturing the image with the cellular phone. In the conventional method, a distortion coefficient has been determined based on the line based correction of radial distortion. This method has directly applied each candidate of the distortion coefficient in the predefined range to the captured image and the correctness of the applied distortion coefficient has been verified. However, many processing time should be required because of a lot of verified points. Therefore, to improve the processing speeds, the golden section search method for the estimation of the distortion coefficients is adopted. Moreover we propose an improvement method for the better accuracy of the estimation of the distortion coefficients. In the proposed method, all sides of the image are used for the correction. The experimental result shows the reduction of the processing time and the estimation accuracy of the distortion coefficient.
