Abstract(in English) | There may be a precedence order among activities in a workflow. Such a workflow can be modeled as a workflow net with inhibitor arcs. Soundness enables us to verify the logical correctness of workflows, however it seems to be intractable to verify the soundness of workflow nets with inhibitor arcs. In this paper, we propose a method to verify the soundness of workflow nets with inhibitor arcs. We first transform a given workflow net with inhibitor arcs into a Petri net without the inhibitor arcs. If the Petri net is free choice, we verify whether the net is bounded and live, i.e. the original net is sound, based on the Rank Theorem in polynomial time. Otherwise we further transform the Petri net into a workflow Net without the inhibitor arcs, and then apply a model checking method to the verification of the workflow net. |
