Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have been studying energy-saving schemes using the home network system, integrating multiple appliances and sensors at home. For this, we observed a problem that the energy-saving operations recommended by the system were often unacceptable for home users, because of the diversity of users' preferences. In this paper, we propose a method of analyzing personalized energy-saving behaviors using the persona scenario method, introducing virtual users, called personas, with detailed profiles and preferences. We first determine a set of personas involved in the target service domain. Each persona is then characterized by a profile and energy-saving preference consisting of four parameters. Finally, we derive reasonable energy-saving services so that every persona is satisfied. A case study with a family of four people demonstrates that personalized energy-saving services are recommended according to their preferences.
