Propagation property of pressure wave in a tube of artery model

Abstract(in English) Pulse wave is used for diagnosis of arteriosclerosis. This wave consists of incident and reflected waves, which reflects the pressure wave in the blood vessel. Attenuation of the reflected wave changes markedly due to the arterial stiffness. However, the propagation properties of the reflected wave have not been perfectly investigated. We have then constructed a simple human artery model, and investigated propagation properties of the inner pressure wave. With the human artery model, we succeeded in observation of pressure waveform that was similar to carotid pulse wave. In addition, we investigated the site generating reflected wave in the model.
