Abstract(in English) | Standardization of quality assessment technologies for television has been conducted by ITU-R SG 6 in collaboration with ITU-T SG 9 and SG 12 responsible for quality assessment for telecommunication. Relevant ITU Recommendations have been developed on video signal formats, subjective and objective methods for picture quality assessment, monitoring of broadcasting chains, and quality requirements for broadcasting. These Recommendations have been utilized for designing broadcasting systems and making technical standards. As high quality is crucial for broadcasting services, the evolution of quality assessment and monitoring technologies is highly expected for complex and advanced digital broadcasting systems. |
