Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A variant of Rank Attack which is applicable to the Complementary STS is discussed. The Complementary STS is a variant of Stepwise Triangular System, in which two STSs are combined together in order to make the rank of each step identical and subsequently to make the system resistant to both Rank Attacks and Grobner Bases Attack. However, the system has to contain more variables than equations, in order to contain the trapdoor structure. This "degree of freedom" might give attackers some chance to forge signatures. Therefore the structure of including check equations is proposed, which in combination with the Complementary STS constitutes Enhanced STS. Here it is pointed out that Rank Attacks are applicable to complementary STS, the system of equations where all polynomials have identical rank in the central map.
