An Integrated Mobile Network towards Popularization of Mobile Multimedia

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes an integrated mobile multimedia network. One of the component networks is a virtual single cell where a set of polling are emitted to several adjacent microcells called LMC (Logical Macro-Cell), the response comes from one of micro-cells in the LMC, in which the packet transfer is conducted. The LMC is switched over when the target mobile node moves to the next cell. Thus, the cascaded LMC configures a virtual single cell to allow fast terminals. The virtual single cell is deployed in the busy areas in the integrated mobile multimedia network. The other component is so-called macro-cellular network. It is deployed in the area where the virtual single cell cannot reach. Software defined radio technology allows move of terminals between any component networks. Another important functionality of the integrated mobile network is an IP-based paging network. This allows bidirectional call sessions. When call comes from network side, the IP-based paging network pages the call arrival. The called terminal responds to it from the virtual single cell though it can respond from the macro-cell. The micro-cells will be a mainstay of the integrated mobile network, though the macro-cellular network are one in the present mobile network.
