Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) There are some problems of store-shelf-label recognition: (1)a variety of label types, (2)complex background, (3)rotation and scale change. We propose a store-shelf-label recognition method. This method use label-element detection and model matching. Label-elements(barcode, currency and number marks) are extracted from a camera image using SVM to classify, and compared with the label models to recognize the name and price of commodity. The effectiveness of the method is evaluated by experiment using merchandise information acquisition system for the blind.
