Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) When a cryptographic module performs encryption or decryption, secret information which correlate to the intermediate data being processed can be leaked as side-channel information, via electromagnetic (EM) emanation. Then, the secret key may be extracted by using power analysis attacks with electromagnetic field. In previous study, it is reported that the secret information is contained in the band around clock frequency and its harmonics. It is also known that a resonance appears in the spectrum of common-mode (CM) current which causes the information leakage via the electromagnetic filed. We expect the information leakage to be larger when the resonance overlaps the clock frequency. In this study, the authors show a mechanism to determine where the resonance appears in the spectrum. In this mechanism, an information device is regarded as a resonance circuit around the clock frequency. Substrate is regarded as capacitance and attached lines are regarded as inductance respectively, the resonance frequency is determined by the capacitance and the inductance.
