Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Communication network data, such as the volume of traffic and the number of users, has been mainly used for facility engineering of communication networks. This use focuses on "quantitative" data. In contrast, from the other "qualitative" point of view, we expect that data on a communication network includes characteristics of human activity in society. If such sociological information can be extracted from communication network data, it would be possible to know information about structure of social networks that is behind communication networks. We explain the technique to extract significant "qualitative" information from communication network data, and talk about the approach to investigate the structure of social networks that are behind communication services.
