Performance of DVB-S2 System in a Land Mobile Satellite Channel

Abstract(in English) DVB-S2 (Digital Video Broadcasting-Satellite second generation) has been developed to increase the system capacity, and also to provide high definition TV, interactive TV broadcasting and high speed internet services. Various researches have been done to extend DVB-S2 based broadcasting services and internet services to mobile services. In DVB-S2, specific high-level modulation schemes are employed in order to operate the satellite transponder at higher power efficiency, i.e., in nonlinear mode of HPA. In this paper, we analyze the performance of DVB-S2 system in LMS (Land Mobile Satellite) channels. Assumed LMS channels are characterized as composite model of Log-normal, Rician and Rayleigh channel models.
