Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Histogram equalization (HE) is one of the typical image contrast enhancement methods. The unique transformation function is derived by the HE. For example, the number of pixels is concentrated in low/high values, the unnecessary enhancement is made. In some cases, the average brightness of image is changed by the HE. In order to conquer the defects, contrast enhancement based on differential gray-levels histogram and brightness preserving bi-histogram equalization method, are proposed. In this paper, we propose the novel histogram enhancement method which is combined the histogram information and differential gray-levels histogram information. The proposed method can emphasize objects which are buried in shadow or saturation regions. The proposed method has several free parameters; we show the effective decision method of these parameters. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by experimental results.
