Abstract(in English) As increasing Ethernet service users and enhancing service functions, a new generation wide-area layer-2 network (NGL2) beyond the state-of-the-art carrier grade Ethernet is expected. For realizing the next generation layer-2 network, we have proposed new layer2 protocol technologies based on Ethernet technologies and have developed prototype systems. In this article, a newly developed layer-2 address (MAC address) assignment policy will be described. And, user side cross-connection setting scheme for setting up end-to-end layer-2 path will be proposed.
