Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Object evaluations can be affected by others' faces around them. Recent research found that an object paired with an attractive face is favored more than one with unattractive (Strick et al., 2008). In the current study, we examined whether the effect of attractiveness on object evaluation is independent of valence of facial expressions. We found that participants preferred objects paired with attractive faces to those with unattractive, irrespective of facial expressions. This indicates that attractiveness of paired faces robustly affects preference of objects and that the effect is uninfluenced by valance of facial expressions.
