Abstract(in English) With a video communication system using an ordinary 2D display, visual information such as depth is largely absent so there is a lack of nonverbal information such as inter-personal distances, gaze, and pointing gestures which are important for communication, as well as information associated with depth such as spatial information. For that reason, in order to present correct depth information in a natural manner, it is absolutely essential and effective to provide motion parallax that follows the head movements of the user. In this study, we propose a pseudo 3D video communication system that imparts motion parallax which adjusts to the viewpoint position of the user and enables the user to view video pictures in which depth can be perceived, with an ordinary equipment setup, namely a monocular camera and a 2D display.
