Abstract(in English) Polarization control elements (polarizer and polarization splitter) using a laminated structure are analyzed using the finite-difference time-domain method with the periodic boundary condition. To reduce the reflected wave generated at the input and output facets, an antireflection coating (ARC) is introduced. The use of the ARC suppresses the Fabry-Perot resonance, so that a high transmittance of more than 90% is obtained over a wavelength range of 1.0μm to 2.0μm.
