Abstract(in English) | Photonic crystal, as a component of small-size and large-scale integrated optical circuits, has been attracting attention. Photonic band gap (PBG) due to its periodicity makes it possible to confine electromagnetic wave with limited wave number inside defect of the structure. Based on PBG, various kinds of components such as waveguides, branches, filters can be easily configured. In this report, we made scale models based on triangular lattice structure such as straight waveguide, Y-branch waveguides and Mach-Zehnder interferometers. Their characteristics were measured around 4GHz by vector network analyzer. First, in straight waveguide, the phase was measured to get dispersion characteristics. Secondly, Y-branch waveguide, in which cavities was set in each output branches, was measured. The extinction ratio of 30dB was obtained. Finally, Mach-Zehnder interferometers with symmetric/asymmetric structure were measured. For asymmetric structure, the output was below -30dB. This suggests that the structure is applicable for switch by controlling propagation length of branches. Comparison with numerical analysis by CIP method had shown in good correspondence with all of measurements. |
