Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper discusses a use of coded modulation in low power wireless broadband communication systems with wide area coverage. After the upcoming termination of terrestrial analog TV broadcasting service in July 2011, it is considered to use a part of newly vacant VHF band for "Customer Provided Mobile Communications." In this paper, trellis coded modulation (TCM) and multi-dimensional TCM has been applied to achieve higher data rate in limited bandwidth under a low power wireless data transmission scenario. Bit error rate performance has been evaluated under multipath fading channel. Simulation results show that significant performance improvement is achievable by using TCM and multi-dimensional TCM, especially in the case of high data rate.
