Interference Mitigation and Capacity Tradeoff in CoMP With Limited Feedback

Abstract(in English) In universal frequency reuse downlink cellular systems, interference from neighboring cells degrades the system capacity particularly for the user in cell edge area. Base station (BS) cooperation is a promising technique to mitigate inter-cell interference in multi-cell cellular network by coordination among BSs. With limited feedback, BS can maximize the capacity of the cell edge user, which is subject to the inter-cell interference, by informing the interfering BS to use precoding which generates least interference to the cell edge user. However, it can also result in significant reduction in the interfering BS's cell center user capacity. As in conventional single-cell beamforming, the interfering BS can maximize the signal power at a desired receiver. In this paper, tradeoff between cell edge user and cell center user capacity is realized by using chordal distance metric to find the precoding for the interfering BS. By this mean, we can achieve compromise between minimizing interference to cell edge user while maintaining good cell center user capacity.
