Abstract(in English) We developed 40-Gb/s 1.3/1.55-μm TO-CAN modules based on an InGaAlAs electroabsorption modulator integrated with DFB lasers (EMLs). We used a liquid-crystal-polymer (LCP) for substrate of RF line, and applied a borosilicate (BS)-glass-based coaxial line which is compatible with k-connector glass beads made by Anritsu to TO-CAN stem. By connecting RF line and coaxial line together without an air gap, the impedance of transmission line matched to nearly 50Ω is realized through out the module. By using fabricated TO-CAN modules, we obtained an electrical to optical 3dB-down bandwidth of 33GHz and 40-Gb/s clear eye openings.
