Single wavelength emission using 1xN active multi-mode-interferometer laser diodes

Abstract(in English) Low cost LDs (laser diodes) are attractive for future transmission system. We have been researched 1xN active-MMI LDs (active multi-mode-interferometer LDs) to obtain single wavelength emission. Compared to DFB (distributed feedback) LDs, 1xN active-MMI LDs can get single wavelength oscillation without gratings, which may result in low cost LDs. Here we report the first single wavelength emission by using active 1x3-MMI LDs. They showed single oscillation wavelength (λ=1.55μm, SMSR>12dB).
