Abstract(in English) | A periodic metal (Au) structure is analyzed using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The propagation characteristics of a long-range surface plasmon is investigated at optical wavelengths. A two-dimensional square pillar structure provides a loss of 0.054dB/μm at a wavelength of 1.55μm by the proper choice of the spacing between the metal pillars. As a result, the loss is reduced in comparison with that of a convensional metal slab waveguide (0.093dB/μm). A circular pillar structure is also studied for comparison. |
