Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) High mesa waveguide fascinates us for its optical field, which profiles out of the waveguide, can be used for gas sensing. One critical issue is, however, its relatively high scattering loss that degrades the sensitivity. Here we show that the scattering loss can be suppressed by changing some parameters of the waveguide. As far as we know there is little study which regards to the scattering loss focus their attention on the light wavelength so the first method that we give to decrease the scattering loss is to change the light wavelength. Second we focus our attention on the waveguide structure itself. We show that the scattering loss can be improved by changing the waveguide core thickness.
