Application of low-resolution spectral information for wide-color-gamut imaging system

Abstract(in English) For color image reproduction for wide-color-gamut displays, the colorimetric accuracy of highly saturated colors is important. Recently, a color reproduction scheme has been proposed, which utilizes a low-resolution spectral image accompanied with a RGB image. In this paper, this scheme is evaluated from the viewpoint of the accuracy of saturated colors. In addition, a new method is presented based on a sparse and redundant representation of spectra for the purpose of reproducing saturated colors in small regions. Through simulations, it is confirmed that color saturation is well preserved by utilizing low-resolution spectral information, and that colors in small regions are reproduced with highly accuracy by the sparase-based method.
