Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The achievement of the ubiquitous sensor network to which economically collects and delivers the information of objects is hoped for. Aimed at creating an ecology-minded ubiquitous society with assured safety and security, a''bi-directional communication service with objects'' that is omnipresent everywhere is expected. Therefore, what is being sought is the provision of wireless network access for devices and other objects that may be installed in a variety of environments. NTT Laboratories are undertaking the research and development on a wide-area ubiquitous network as a wireless communication system that exhibits the characteristics required for communication with objects. This paper shows the requirements of the communication with objects, and introduces the technical features of the wide-area ubiquitous network and the situation of the feasibility test.
