Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A virtual touchpad system has been developed that supports basic mouse operations such as moving the cursor, clicking, dragging and clutching simply by having the user gesture as if operating with a touchpad. Two cameras are used to capture images of the user's fingertip movement. The 3D trajectory of the user's fingertip is obtained from these pairs of images, and the intended operation is then extracted by analyzing the 3D trajectory. Preliminary experiments with both skilled and novice users were used to evaluate the system performance, and the results were discussed.
