Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An event-related-potential study was conducted to investigate into the time-course of processing alternating word order in Japanese. "Reversible sentences," which do not change plausibility even when the subject and object were exchanged (e.g. Nihonjin-no dansei-ga amerikajin-no jyosei-wo hometa "A Japanese man praised an Americal woman."/Nihonjin-no dansei-ga amerikajin-no jyosei-wo hometa "An American woman praised a Japanese man."), were used in order to control lexical/semantic factors. We found N400 for the second noun phrase (i.e. dansei-ga/dansei-wo) and a positivity distributing posterior regions in 500-700 time window for the fourth noun phrase (jyosei-wo/jyosei-ga).
