Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper demonstrates a wide-area sensor network whose sensor nodes are driven by supplied laser power. The sensor node produces optical signal by modulating a part of the supplied laser light and sends it back to the monitor. The developed sensor node is driven with an incident optical power of 1.7 mW, which is low enough to drive more than 100 sensor nodes placed along an optical fiber line. The ubiquitous sensor network is also achievable by introducing wireless/optical interface nodes.
