Abstract(in English) We aim to attempt high efficiency and downsizing of an LiNbO_3 optical modulator widely used in the optical communication system. We have proposed a resonant type optical modulator with an Au mirror. The resonant type optical modulator has a higher efficiency of optical modulation because the electric field on a modulating electrode can be enhanced by an electric resonance. The modulation efficiency and the modulator size have been improved further by reflecting a light wave with the Au mirror.
