Implementation and Verification of an Update Mechanism for Derived Sub-ontology

Abstract(in English) In a Semantic Grid, the idea of acquiring ontology data from different grid resources and processing these related data to derive the required sub-ontology for reuse is considered a viable solution to reduce processing cost. The derived sub-ontology can then be subjected to sub-ontology/ontology tailoring and/or expansion. However, as new developments and discoveries arise, the need to update the derived sub-ontology becomes necessary. Doing the typical sub-ontology derivation process takes longer and incurs large communication cost. In this paper, we proposed a mechanism for incremental updates of derived sub-ontology and demonstrate its viability through experiments.
