Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Power consumption of clustered virtual servers can be reduced by dynamically changing their configuration according to workload changes. Adjusting resource allocation using scale-in/scale-out and consolidation of virtual servers between physical servers can be used for this purpose. Effectiveness of the consolidation method for a large number of virtual servers decreases because of overhead for virtual server movements. In this paper, we propose the power saving method by appropriately selecting scale-in/scale-out target combing the two consolidation methods in order to reduce the provisioning overhead. The experimental evaluation shown that the proposal method can reduce power consumption 29% compared to static configuration and 10% compared to a method without consideration of virtual server movements.
