Abstract(in English) Photon mapping is a well-known global illumination method that can simulate direct illumination, indirect illumination, and caustics. This paper reports an initial implementation and evaluation of a photon mapping algorithm on Cell Broadband Engine (Cell/B.E.). Our experimental result shows a good scalability that the performance with 8 SPEs is about 6 times as good as that with one SPE, while there still remain challenges for the implementation.
