Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The objective of this study is to establish electromagnetic interference (EMI) evaluation techniques for wireless devices that use the near-field electromagnetic field (EMF), especially body area network (BAN) devices. The torso phantom is employed for an EMI evaluation. The EMI evaluation method is valid in cases that the induced voltage at a device placed in the torso phantom is higher than that for a device implanted in a human body. As a calculation method, the Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method is used. Two types of transmitters are used as BAN devices. Transmitters 1 and 2 induce an electric field that surrounds the whole human body and near the transmitter, respectively. As a result, when using transmitters 1 and 2, voltages induced at the device placed in the torso phantom are 5.7 and 3.2 dB higher than that implanted in the human body, respectively. Consequently, it is confirmed that the EMI evaluation method using the torso phantom can be used.
