Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a system to provide the blind with the merchandise information of store shelves and to guide them t the commodity. This system extracts label elements (barcode, currency and number marks) from a camera image using SVM to classify. Label elements are compared with the label models to recognize the name and price of the commodity. Finally, the system provides users with the merchandise information and guidance by audio output. Experimental results for 35 images are satisfactory extraction rate(precision: 87.76%, recall: 82.14%, F-measure: 0.83) and recognition rate(precision: 81.95%, recall: 76.43%, F-measure: 0.77).
