Abstract(in English) | We are examined the effects of the understanding and search for contents by tactile presentation, which enables a space perception of two-dimensional visual information such as figures, tables and graphics. The paper indicates the experiments on the effects by a tactile display presentation as well as an existing speech synthesis presentation. The tables utilized in the experiments are daily used and have diverse characteristics. The tables consist of four groups; regular calendars, irregular electronic program listings, shift tables and bus fare charts. Each of them was evaluated with both the objective evaluation method by search time and the subjective evaluation by introspection. The authors analyzed the four presentation methods; speech synthesis, speech synthesis and tactile abstract object, speech synthesis and Braille, and paper Braille. As a result, as for regular calendars, "speech synthesis" and "paper Braille" significantly shortened the search time, while "speech synthesis and tactile abstract object" and "speech synthesis and Braille" significantly shortened the search time regarding irregular electronic program listings and fare charts. The authors concluded that the utilization of tactile presentation in combination is effective to search tables made of grid objects. |
