| 抄録(和) | 医学の進歩によって,重度身体障害者が人工呼吸をしながら在宅での生活を選択することが増えている.このような状態での生活の質(QOL)の向上のためには,コミュニケーション支援が重要である.近年の脳生理学の進歩と,計算機パワーの向上・小型化によって,脳計測から意図にかかわる情報を実時間で抽出することが可能になってきた.これを使うと,文字入力(計算機の操作;BCI)や環境制御,義手等の各種機械装置の操作(BMI)を,筋肉の活動を介さずに行うことが可能になるので(脳インターフェース),重度障害者のための福祉機器としての期待が高まっている.本稿では,脳インターフェースの現況を紹介し,その適応条件と,日常的に脳インターフェースを使えるようにするためには何が開発要件になるのか考察する. |
| 抄録(英) | Owing to the progress in medicine, more and more people with severe disabilities choose to live in their own home even with artificial ventilation. It is known that assistive communication is important in order to improve their quality of life. Recent advances in neuroscience and rapid growth of computational power have enabled the extraction of brain signals related to free will in real time. This technique is referred to as "brain interface" here and includes character input (communication, brain-computer interface; BCI), environmental control, and machine manipulation (brain-machine interface; BMI). Brain interface has been expected to enable those with the severest disability to communicate with others. In this report, current status of the brain interface is reviewed, and its possible target population and the social system to be implemented are discussed so that this new technology can be used effectively. |
