Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To overcome the difficulty elderly people experience in using websites, we investigated how to support their operation of websites. 12 elderly participants were given 3 web tasks, for example Internet shopping, with task flows and three levels of support: (1) text support describing how to manipulate links and objects, (2) text and visual support showing how to and where to manipulate links and objects, and (3) no support. We observed their behavior and interviewed them; their performance and comments suggest that the combination of text and visual support is most effective for elderly website users.
