Effect of implicit self-descriptiveness on Web interaction by senior users

Abstract(in English) We have studied on accessible Web design for elder based on 7 dialogue principles, ISO 9341-110 and JIS Z 8520, and found importance of self-descriptiveness, especially, implicit self-descriptiveness. We focused on a metaphor to ensure implicit self-descriptiveness. We observed the behavior of middle-aged and older novice PC users when they performed some Web navigation tasks with normal common browser and with book-metaphor. We found book-metaphor is effective to ensure implicit self-descriptiveness.
