Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Although the existence of "chunks" in procedural memory is suggested by the analysis of button-press intervals in a sequential button press task, their specific structure has not been detected. We recorded hand movements during a button-press task and analyzed them. As a result, we found that temporal breaks between button-press sequences were reflected in the velocity profile of the hand. This indicates that we might be able to detect chunks more accurately and closely investigate the chunk structure in procedural memory using hand movements.
