Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Previously we reported that, in response to an applied extracellular DC field, the membrane potential near the soma changes with slow time course, and the potential in the apical dendrites shows biphasic change with with fast and slow time course. For AC field, the potential in the apical dendrites shows frequency dependent changes. In our recent modeling studies, we have shown that a leaky cable model with low membrane resistivity on one end mimics these behaviors. As an alternative account for the experimental results, we tested the impact of the morphology of the cells for DC field induced responses, and found that the morphology for AC field by performing compartmental model simulations, to find that the morphology also can account for the frequency dependent behavior of the dendrites.
