Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Inverse halftoning is to reproduce of a grayscale image from a halftone image, i.e., binary image. The look-up table-based method by Mese et al. is an excellent means in inverse halftoning proposed thus far. In their algorithm, the gray-level is estimated based on local binary pattern on the template in a halftone image. Although a single shaped template is used in their algorithm, in this report, we try to improve the grayscale reproducibility of the method using multiple shaped templates. The effectiveness and features of template multiplication are discussed through experiments.
