Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To generate a monochrome image from a color one, usually, the lightness components of the color image are extracted and used. This transformation is not generally invertible and it is impossible to reconstruct original RGB values from a monochrome image. In this report, we propose an invertible color-to-monochrome transformation algorithm in order to obtain the monochrome image, which contains RGB information and enables us to reconstruct a color image. In the proposed algorithm, colors in an input image are clustered by κ-means-based algorithm with a lightness constraint and an output monochrome image is obtained using the clustering result.
