Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the field of the form image processing by OCR, there are needs of extracting the post-printed patterns of only the specific ink-color such as stamps or handwritten characters from a scanned image. When the background color of the image is not white, the task becomes more difficult: the observed color of the pattern might be considerably different from the original ink-color because of the color mixing between the background and the ink. The mixing correction is needed to know the original color of the target pattern. To solve this problem, all we can use is the information that can be obtained from the scanned images. In this paper, we handle post-prints by boll-point pens as an example. We first clarify the characteristic of the color distribution of the pixels of the post-printed pattern in the scanned image. Then we propose a color mixing model that can be handled easily only by information obtained from the scanned image. By using the model, we propose a method to transform the color of the post-printed pattern on a colored paper to that on a white paper.
