Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a method of segmenting characters from typewritten document image data including composite lines. Because commercially available optical character recognition (OCR) software cannot detect composite lines, it is impeditive to digitize such image data. In this study, we apply a method of segmenting characters by setting up the model of projection focused on the characteristic of composite lines.
